The difference between monuments and famous buildings is-

1. A monument comprises an architectural structure that carries a historical significance with it. The monument can be a pillar, cave, tower, and building as well. The monument recognizes and memorializes a particular incident or a particular personality. The values are closely intertwined with the monuments. Examples of monuments are the Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar, and others.

2. A famous building can be distinguished from monuments on the ground of value it carries. It can be a public or tourist attraction but it is not linked to a historical value. An example of a famous building is the Burj Khalifa.
