lets understand this.
for eg a cone is lying over a cylinder then we can say that cone is mounted on a cylinder.
but as cone is lying on cylinder than we can say that cylinder is surmounted by a cone.
mounted means any object placed on the other object while surmounted means any object holding any other object placed on the top of its surface.
