Mycoplasma is a type of bacteria, where the cell wall is absent, and the mycobacteria is a type of bacteria that possess a thick cell wall around the cell membrane. In Mycoplasma there is no definite shape whereas the mycobacteria have slightly curved and straight rods.Since the absence of cell wall in the Mycoplasma it cannot be stained by grams stain, In the case of Mycobacteria, it can be stained in red color since it possesses the thick peptidoglycan layers. The genus family of Mycoplasma is Mycoplasmataceae and for the Mycobacteria the genus family is Mycobacteriaceae.
