Barrier methods:- Used to prevent sperms from entering the female genital tract, and hence preventing the fertilisation and pregnancy.
- Barrier method such as condoms also prevent STDs.
- It has less chances of failure.
- E.g. male condoms, female condoms, diaphragm, cervical cap and sponges.
Natural method:-prevention of sperms from entering the female genital tract by coitus interruptus
Or avoiding coitus during ovulation period
- Does not prevents from STDs
- Very high chances of failure
- E.g. Coitus interruptus (withdrawal method), Lactational amenorrhea, keeping track of your periods (avoiding coitus during ovulation)
