Let the breadth be x

Length = x + 10

Solve x:

Given that the area is 375 cm²

Area = length x breadth

x(x - 10) = 375

x² -10x - 375 = 0

(x - 25) (x + 15) = 0

x = 25 0r x = -15 (rejected, length cannot be negative)

Find the breadth:

Breadth = x = 25 cm

Answer: The breadth is 25 cm

according to the question, the length of the rectangle is 10m more than it's breadth.

let the breadth of the rectangle be x. therefore Length of the rectangle = 10 + x

given the area of the rectangle = 375cm²

we know the formula solving for the area of a rectangle.. that's length × breadth.

therefore length × breadth = 375cm²
>> (x + 10)(x) = 375cm²
>> x² + 10x = 375cm²

>> x² + 10x - 375 = 0
>> x² + ( 25x - 15x ) - 375 = 0
>> x² + 25x - 15x - 375 = 0
>> x (x + 25) - 15 (x + 25) = 0
>> ( x + 25 ) ( x - 15 )

>> ( x + 25 ) = 0
>> x = -25

>> ( x - 15 ) = 0
>> x = 15

now, we got two solution.. one is x = -25 and another one is x = 15

as we know that dimensions of a rectangle can't be negative since distance can never be negative. so the breadth of the rectangle can't be a negative number.

hence, the breadth of the rectangle is 15cm.
