difference between ocean waves and ocean currents

Waves are on the surface of the oceans and currents are below. Waves are caused by wind and other factors. I believe currents are caused by many things including differing water temperatures, the planet's rotation and the seasons.

Waves are produced when only surface of water is moved.
Currents are produced when the flow of actual water (both on surface and below)  occurs.
