Answer: In partial condensor vapour is only partially liquified whereas in total condensor ,all of the vapour leaving the top of the colum is condensed.
Explanation:
- Condenser is a heat exchanger which is used to condense gaseous substance into liquid by the process of cooling.
- In distillation , vapour from the top are condensed and it is re fluxed to the top tray so that it can have contact with vapour and liquid.
- The product from the top can be liquid or vapour. If it is liquid, then condenser is called total condenser but if it is vapour then condenser is partial condenser.
- In partial condenser only part of vapour from the top of the distillation column is condesed.
- Whereas in total condenser all the vapour leaving the top layer is condensed.
