in the process of photosynthesis, food is made by the plants from simpler product whereas in the process of respiration, food is broken down into simpler product. In simple terms we can say that photosynthesis is the reverse process of respiration.
Photosynthesis is a combination reaction where as decomposition is a combination reaction.
