A small, specialized club-shaped structure typically bearing four basidiospores at the tips of minute projections. The basidium is unique to basidiomycetes and distinguishes them from other kinds of fungi this is called phragmobasidium

a nonseptate unicellular basidium characteristic of the basidiomycetes.this is called holbasidium

Difference between Phragmobasidium and Holobasidium:

Phragmobasidium: This is a type of basidium which is a cup like structure and contains four basidiospores at the tip of the projections. The basidium is unique in shape which distinguishes it from the other fungi.The basidium is separated by the elongated two or four cells of septa.

Holobasidium: This is a basidium which is elongated and non-septate. The number of the sterigmata is two to eight and it is relatively short.
