Difference between phycomycetes and basidiomycetes

Phycomycetes:

•Phycomycetes are terrestrial fungi

•They are obligate parasites

•Found in moist and damp places

•The mycelia of this fungi are aseptate and multinucleated,i.e.,coenocytic condition

•Asexual reproduction is by zoospores which are produced endogenously

•Sexual reproduction is by gametangial contact,motile or non motile spores

Examples:-Albugo,Rhizopus etc

Basidiomycetes:

•They are aquatic fungi

•They are club shaped

•Found on trees and moist places

•The mycelium is septate and branched

•Asexual reproduction generally doesn't occur

•Sexual reproduction occurs by fusion of the basidiospores

Examples:-Agaricus,Ustilago etc
