The differences between Physical Change and Chemical Change are given below:

Physical Change:

▶ It is a temporary change.

▶ The chemical composition of the substance remains the same.

▶ No new substances are formed.

▶ It is usually reversible.

▶ Only the physical properties like colour, taste or state are changed.

▶ Change in energy is not seen usually in it.

▶ Change in mass is not seen in it.

▶ E.g: Magnetizing an iron nail.

Chemical Change:

▶ It is a permanent change.

▶ The chemical composition of the substance is changed.

▶ New substances are formed.

▶ It is usually irreversible.

▶ Chemical as well as physical properties are changed.

▶ Usually energy is absorbed or evolved.

▶ Change in mass occurs in it.

▶ E.g: Burning wood.

Difference between Physical change and Chemical change

About Physical change:

Physical changes are those changes which are for temporary. Once, Physical change is done then it can't be reversed. Physical changes are mainly used for filtering substances.

About Chemical Change:

When the materials are reversed by chemical change they can't be come in their original state. In short, substance changed in Chemical Change can't be reversed.

Difference between Physical and Chemical change:

1) Physical change:

=> No new substances are formed

=> Substance after physical change can be reversed. Means, it is a reversible change

=> It is a temporary change

=> Chemical composition and equation remains same after physical change

=> No mass, No energy, No Volume is changes

=> Ex: Water Evaporation

2) Chemical change:

=> New substances are formed

=> Substances formed by chemical change can't be reversed. Therefore, it is irreversible.

=> It is a permanent change

=> Chemical composition and chemical equations are changed

=> Mass, Energy is changed

=> Ex: Ripening of Banana
