The easiest form of identification between a plant cell and an animal cell is:
- Plant cells have a cellulose cell wall outside of its cell membrane, whereas, animal cells do not.
- Plant cells have chloroplast with chlorophyll that they use for photosynthesis, animal cells do not have them
- Plant cells are more structurally shaped because of its cell wall, eg Palisade cells are columnar and long, animal cells (in general) are not strictly structured.
- Plant cells do not have centrioles near their nucleus, animal cells have this organelle for mitosis.
- Plant cells have a large permanent vacuole in the middle of its cell (imagine a little lake in a small park), animal cells can have a temporary small vacuole.
- Mechanisms of mitosis is different for plant cells (Their golgi apparatus sends out cellulosic substances that forms the new cell wall for two daughter cells) and for animal cells (they go through all phases of the mitotic cell cycle
