polar radius;

the polar radius is less than the equatorial radius, because of the centrifical forces, of the earths rotation, some places near the pole all drain to the poles, the distortion is so great.

equatorial radius;

Equatorial radius. The Earth's equatorial radius a, or semi-major axis, is the distance from its center to the equator and equals 6,378.1370 km (3,963.1906 mi). The equatorial radius is often used to compare Earth with other planets.
