There are two of its kind, progressive metamorphosis and retrogressive metamorphosis.
The former type has a positive action on an organism. It refers to the growth in complexity, structure and characteristics of the organism in the course of time.
However, the latter has a negative action.
It occurs when an organism shows traits of reduced complexity in structure and characteristics in the course of time.
