difference between proteins and carbohydrates

proteins are the nutrients that help us in building bodies, in growth .proteins are needed by children in a fine amount, but it is preferred to eat less proteins by adults.eg-pulses,meat,fish,egg etc.
carbohydrates are the nutrients that provide us energy to work.they are usually taken by a people of all ages in a fine amount.eg-potatoes,rice .

Composition wise: Carbohydrates are composed of sugars whereas Proteins are made of amino acids. 
Functional wise:  Carbohydrates are mainly used for giving energy as they are said to be Energy-giving food whereas Proteins is used for the growth & repair of body.
