A proton is a particle found in the nucleus of an atom that has a relative mass and charge of 1. A proton is comprised of 3 fundamental particlescalled quarks, specifically 2 up quarks and a down quark (uud). An alpha particle is essentially a Helium- 4 Nucleus, as it has 2 protons and 2 neutrons.
