The main difference between deadline and rate monotonic is the target being determined as per the time-limit.
- The deadline monotic is assigned based on the deadline period, whereas the rate monotonic is based on the shortest release period.
- While the rate monotonic can be easily implemented from fifo scheduling, deadline monotonic follows a slower process.
- In the case of rate monotonic the priority is taken from activation frequency, while in deadline priority is given to the ready process that has to be completed first.
