Difference between shigella and salmonella in macconkey agar

1. Mobility-Shigella is non-molite whereas SAlmonella is motile.


2. Shape- Shigella is splender and Salmonella is rod shaped.


3. Media- is Hektoen agar. Colonies appear green in Shigella and black in Salmonella.


4.Affect- Salmonella affects small and large intestine whereas Shigella affects colon.


5. Incubation Period- In Shigella its 1-2 days and in Salmonella is 6-72 hours.
