Difference between rer and ser​

Smooth ER:- It is called smooth endoplasmic reticulum when no ribosomes are attached to the membrane.

Rough ER:- It is called rough endoplasmic reticulum when ribosomes are attached to it's Membrane.

1) RER bears ribosomes over it's surface while SER is devoid of them.

2) RER is specialised to synthesize proteins. SER takes part in synthesis of lipids and steroids.

3) RER are extensive and continuous with outer membrane of nucleus. SER is present near RER in cytoplasm.
