1) Breathing is a mechanical process in which fresh air is sent to the lungs while removing carbon dioxide from the body by the muscular movement whereas Respiration is a cellular process in which simple organic compound like glucose are oxidized in order to liberate chemical energy in the form of ATP.

2)Breathing provides oxygen for respiration while removing co2 whereas, In Respiration energy is released in the form of ATP.

3)Breathing can be observed in animals and some of arthropods whereas, Respiration can be observed in all living organism.

4)Breathing occur by diffusion whereas, Respiration by oxidation.

5)Breathing is a voluntary action while Respiration is an involuntary action.
