In Plants stimulus response is done with the help of a chemical substance called as Plant hormones or phyto hormone. Plants do not have brain and spinal cord.In animals stimulus response is done with the help of electrical impulses generated by the nervous system as well as the hormones secreted by the endocrine glands.
In animals stimulus response is controlled by brain and spinal cord.

Animals respond slowly to stimuli, but plants respond only to certain stimuli, such as light and touch.

Plant stimuli:

  • Plants react to a variety of stimuli.
  • Tropism is the term for a response to external stimuli such as light, water, gravity, and so on.
  • Phototropism is the movement or development of plants in the direction of light. A sunflower, for example, faces the sun.
  • Plant roots grow deeper into the soil in response to greater water concentrations, which is known as hydrotropism.
  • Chemotropism is the movement of a plant or portions of a plant toward a certain chemical or hormone. Pollen on the stigma, for example, grows pollen tubes that go to the ovules.
  • Geotropism is a term that refers to a plant's sensitivity to gravity. When roots are seen growing down, positive geotropism is detected.
  • Plants respond to touch in addition to tropism; for example, the Mimosa's leaves close when touched.

Animal stimuli:

  • Hibernation, migration, defense, and courting are some of the ways animals respond to environmental cues.
  • Some animals will hibernate as a response to the chilly winter weather (stimulus).
  • Hibernation is a state in which the body's activity is considerably decreased to save food stored in the body.
  • All creatures, except the tiniest, receive a stimulus—light, sound, taste, touch, or smell—through unique cells called receptors, which are found throughout the body.
  • Fish, for example, have hair-like organs throughout their bodies, including their tails.
  • Animals respond to stimuli to maintain their current state of well-being.
  • Moving to a warmer location if it is too chilly is one example of this.
  • If you're hungry, you'll move towards food.
