they are formed by joining of tributaries but are the main source

* tributary is an affluent river which into a larger river.
While,
* river is a large landmass which carries water from higher to lower areas.
* Tributary do not flow directly into the sea.
While,
* Rivers are the direct flow of water.
Tributary is a meet of two or more certain river bodies.
While,
* rivers don't have a limit of adjoing rivers.
