Both the smooth and rough endoplasmic reticulum help in theproduction and storage of proteins The main difference is that one contains ribosomes on it and the other does not. The rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) has ribosomes on its surface. ... The smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER) does not contain ribosomes.

hello friend...
RER (Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum) and SER (Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum) both perform synthesis of protein. But there is a difference between them.
RER contains ribosomes on its surface which SER doesn't contain any ribosomes.
hope it will help you.
best wishes.
