The difference between Shortly and Rencently is :

SHORTLY : In a short or brief time or manner; soon; quickly.

Eg ; Timing was with her and she was able to take all the state exams shortly after graduating.

RECENTLY : In the recent past; newly; lately; freshly; not long since.

Eg ; I recently gained access to this database that the company's owner uses.
