Speed is a scalar quantity, that is, it only depends on the magnitude. For example, 50km/hr

Velocity is a vector quantity, that is,it depends on magnitude as well as the direction. For example, 50km/hr towards east.

Veloctity can be negative or positive whereas speed is always positive.

Velocity is the the speed of something in a given direction whereas speed is the distance covered in a fixed time.

Hope This Helps!
