SQUAMOUS EPITHELIUM;

1) the component cells are thin and flat
2) the nucleus lies in the centre of the circle which generally bulged out
3) this tissue occurs in lung alveoli blood capillaries bowman's capsule buccal cavity skin and etcccc
4) it functions as a selectively permeable barrier in ultra filtration and wear and tear

COLUMNAR EPITHELIUM:

1) the component cells are pillar like
2) the nucleus is located near the base of the cell
3) it occurs with the layer of stomach and intestine there glands and the covering of epiglottis
4) it takes part in absorption secretion and protecting covering

These cells are tall .

These cells are Cylindrical.

These cells are Pillar like.

The basal part of the cells which rests on the basement membrane bears oval nucleus.

The free ends present in these cells are known as microvilli .

They are present in our pharynx, stomach, intestine etc.

Squamous epithelium is made up of thin, flat, polygonal cells.

They are having disc like structure.

The nucleus is rounded, bulging and centrally located.

They form a structure as that of a floor tile .

The squamous epithelium are of two types :

★ Simple Squamous tissue
★ Stratified Squamous tissue

Location :

They form the lining of nose, pericardial cavity, blood vessels, lung alveoli, coelomic cavity etc .

They are also found in the surface of the skin .

Functions :

• Protection

• Exchange of gases

• Ultrafiltration

• Abrasion
