I hope it will help you....
The tangential method of tacheometry is being used when stadia hairs are not present in the diaphragm of the instrument or when the staff is too far to read. In this method, the staff sighted is fitted with two big targets (or vanes) spaced at a fixed vertical distances.

Answer:
The difference between the Stadia method and the tangential method are as follows-
- In the stadia system, the fixed hair method and movable hair method are used to find out horizontal distance. Whereas In the tangential systems various cases are being used to find out the horizontal distance.
- In the stadia system, a telescope is fitted with stadia hair in the movable hair method. whereas In a tangential system a telescope is not fitted with a stadia diaphragm.
- In the stadia method, Two vane or targets are fixed at a known distance apart normally 3m. Whereas in the tangential method Two targets are a fixed distance apart probably 3m to 4m.
- In the stadia system, there is more speed and readings are easily taken. Whereas In a tangential system there is less speed and reading are not easily be taken.
- The stadia method with the staff being held vertically is in common use in tachometry. Whereas the Tangential method or system is not in common use.
