Sucking roots are also called as haustoria. These are small root which penetrates the host tissue. The haustoria of partial parasite penetrate and make contacts with host xylem tissue since they are in need of water and nutrients.

Epiphytic roots are the roots that grow on the surface of a plant and derives its moisture and nutrients from the air,rain,water or from debris accumulating around it. For example-Spanish moss.
