When temparature is decreased with time with increasing height at a rate greater than 10 degrees celsius per kilometer. then it is called Super adibatic lapse rate.

There is small amount of vertical turbulance and the atmospehere is said to be stable if the enviornmental lapse rate is greater than -5.5 K/km. It is called Subadiabatic lapse rate.
