Endocrine gland:

  • It releases chemical substances called hormones
  • It is a ductless gland
  • it releases the hormone directly into the blood streams
  • Targets sites are far away from the site of secretion
  • Eg: Salivary gland, Sebaceous gland etc

Exocrine gland:

  • It releases chemical substances or catalysts called enzymes
  • It has ducts
  • It releases its secretions through the duct to the target sites
  • Target sites are near to the site of secretions
  • Eg : Pituitary gland, Thyroid gland
