Answer:

Answer:

Terrace farming and contour ploughing are both used to reduce soil erosion on slopes from tilled fields. The differences between terrace farming and contour ploughing are tabulated below.

Terrace farming

Terrace farming shifts the slope’s structure to create flat areas that provide water catchment.

Contour ploughing

Contour ploughing suits the slope’s natural shape without changing it.

On the steep slopes, wide flat steps or terraces are designed so that flat surfaces are usable for cultivation, thus minimizing surface run-off and soil erosion.

Ploughing parallel to the contours of a hill slope to create a natural obstacle for fluid to drain down the slope.
