Difference between tobacco pouch keratosis and leukoplakia
Answers
Tobacco pouch keratosis and Leukoplakia are both oral related conditions in which unusual colored patches formed inside your oral cavity due to the excessive use of tobacco.
Tobacco pouch keratosis, also known as smokeless tobacco keratosis is caused by excess use of smokeless tobacco. The white colored patch appear at the point where tobacco is placed inside the mouth cavity whereas in Leukoplakia, unusual patches appear on your tongue and around the lining of your oral cavity. These patches may vary in color and appearance; from white to gray and hard to raised. Sometimes they have a hairy appearance but that is only in the case of hairy leukoplakia.
One way or another, both of them are caused by tobacco usage and play a role in causing mouth cancer.
