Comparison of true solutions, suspensions and colloidal solutions:
S.No
A. True solutions
B. Colloidal solutions
C. Suspensions
1) Difference
(A) Particle size is of the order of molecular size i.e 10Aο
(B)Particle size ranges from
10Aο - 2000Aο .
(C)Particle size is greater than 2000Aο.
2.
(A) Particles are invisible under all circumstances i.e. even under a microscope.
(B)Particles can be observed under a powerful microscope.
(C)Particles are visible under a microscope. In case of particles such as sand they are visible even to naked eye.
3.
(A) True solutions pass easily either through a filter paper or even a parchment membrane.
(B) Colloidal solutions pass easily through filter paper but slowly through a parchment membrane.
(C) Suspensions cannot pass through either filter paper or parchment membrane.
4
(A) Do not scatter light.
(B) These particles can scatter light. A phenomenon known as Tyndall effect.
(C) Do not show Tyndall effect.

suspension settle down after some time ans colloid particles does not settle down after some time,
in suspension size of particles is more than 100 nm and in colloid particles size of particles lies b/w 1 to 100 nm.
suspension can see with naked eyes nd colloid partiles can not seen by naked eyes.
