valency is the ability of an atom to lose or gain electrons while valenceelectons is the no. of electrons in its outermost shell.....

Valency of an atom is referred to as the tendency to gain, lose or share electrons


The electrons it gains or loses( electrons in the outermost shell ) are called valence electrons
