Difference between vishnu and mahavishnu

In most Vaisnav Puraans including bhagwat the view is Mahavishnu is prime lord and his 16th ansha is Vishnu who takes avtaars ,Now this Vishnujee takes avtaars from his anshas krishna incarnation is of 16 ansha poornavtar and similarily Ram avtaar is also considered Bramhan.
