jagirdars and zamindars were twp types of intermediaries that collected land revenue for the king in the mughal period.
JAGIRDARS
the jagidars were kings offficials who enjoyed the land gifted from the king. the were also ranked as mansabdars. they were alloted non inheritable land area equilant to there fee amount called jagir. jagirdars got promotions. jagirdar had more land areas under there contorl...so they were more powerful. they enjoyed police jurisdiction. jagirdars were not owners of land...so they collected much revenue from the land. the peasants and zamindars came under jagirdar......
ZAMINDAR
the holder of the land is termed as zamindars. they had the right to detain the peasants. in most of the mughal period the zamindar collected land revenue from the actual tillers of land and for this they were allowed one tenth of the collections either in cash or an equivalent amount of tax free land. zamindari right was also sold and bought like goods.
