Let the number be x and y.

According to the Question

1st Equation

⇒ x – y = 11 ----(i)  

2nd Equation

⇒ 1/5 (x + y) = 9  

⇒ x + y = 45  -----(ii)  

Adding Eq (i) and (ii),

⇒ 2x = 56

⇒ x = 56/2  

⇒ x = 28.  

Putting x value in Eq (i)

⇒  x – y = 11

⇒  28 - y = 11

⇒  y = 17.

Hence, the numbers are 28 and 17.
