differences and similarities between planets and comets

Answer:
planets are big and comets are small. planets roam around sun and comets roam around planets
Explanation:
Answer:
Similarities:
Both planets and comets orbit round the sun but the orbit of a comet is highly encentric. It comes from the remote corner of the solar system. It has a longish tail that is lit brilliantly when it comes neerer to the sun.
Differences:
Planets are the regular inhabitants of the system. They have well defined orbits which are almost circular and they all sit close to the same place - the ecliptic.
Comets come from beyond the planets, visiting the sun on a regular basis or may be a very long time gone. Some may be first time visitors.
They originate in the Kuiper Belt (further out than Pluto) or very far out from the Oort Cloud. The human timescale repeating ones come from the Kuiper Belt.
Comets can get disturbed by collision, by other bodies passing by or even by gravity from the outer planets. They take a long time to get into the core of the solar system; some collide with planets or moons on the way - Jupiter and Saturn are very good at getting hit. They can come in from any direction as the Kuiper Belt and Oort Cloud are shells, not rings like the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
