In a democracy leaders are elected by the citizens. In dictatorship the leader is not elected. In democracy citizens have some basic fundamental rights. In dictatorship no rights are given .Democracy works under constitution but in dictatorship there is no constitution.

democracy is a system of govt which follows the criteria -the people , for the people and of the people. for example in india we choose our representatives. so we are controlling our country.
dictatorship is a form of govt practised where power lies in the hand of one person i.e. the dictator and all the decisions are taken by him. people do not have their own choice . in early times , our country India had dictatorship of Aurangzeb wjo did not give the chance to the people .
