A mandibular (lower) molar has only two roots and the maxillary (upper) first premolar has 2 roots
chief differences between the two are in he position in mouth and the size shape of the two
premolars are the 4th and 5th teeth in each quadrant(a quadrant is if you divide your mouth,by an imaginary line, into 4 parts. left upper central incisor to left upper third molar ,right upper central incisor to right upper third molar and so on)

also the mplars are amog the first teeth to erupt and are much larger than premolars there are many more differences
