Motion : when a body seems to be moving , with respect to its surroundings ,then the body is said to be in motion .
Eg: a person sitting inside a moving bus.
Rest: when a body seems to be still ,with respect to its surroundings ,then the body is said to be in motion.
Eg: two person facing each other in bus see each other to be in rest.

Motion and rest are relative terms.
A body is said to be in motion when its position changes with time with respect to the observer. Eg. A person in space will find earth in motion.
A body is said to be at rest when its position does not change with time, again with respect to the observer. Eg. A person on ground will find tree at rest.
