Umbria region waste management system resulted based on quite high separated collection rates (about 50%) and on treatment disposal facilities of medium technological level. By this scheme the recycling rate achieved resulted of about 50%. The presence of a fully implemented legislation and economic scheme were the main drivers for the continuous improvement of the system performances. On the other hand the waste management of the West Bank area resulted characterized by an high presence of non safety dumping (about 50%) and very low level of recycling, aboutn6%. Absence of adequate economic revenues, political instability and lack of adequate awareness resulted the main causes of such low performances of the waste management system.
