3. it is insoluble in water but soluble in carbon disulphide.
4. it undergoes spontaneous combustion in air ..

Red phosphorus :
1. it is a hard crystalline solid and without any smell .
2. it is non poisonous.
3. it is insoluble in both water and carbon disulphide.
4. it is relatively less effective .
