Sky waves:
This works for high frequency radio waves between 2 – 30 MHz.
Sky Waves are reflected off the ionosphere
They are used for amateur radio and long distance aircraft and ship communication.
Space waves:
This is for very high frequency waves (30 – 300 MHz).
Space Waves only travel in straight lines (line of sight). They are used for mobile phones, two-way radio and radar.

Sky wave propagation takes place up to frequency of about 40 MHz.
A space wave travels in a straight line from transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.
