Ex:in order to get stable neon gas configuration carbon shares its four valence electrons. thus it's covalency is 4
electrocovalency:
1)the number of electrons lost or gained by an atom to get stable electronic configuration is called as electrocovalency
2)inert pair effect and the energy difference between the next and (n-1)d subshells causes it
3)the bond formed is ionic in nature.
