Officially, secularism has always inspired modern India. In practice, unlike Western notions of secularism, India's secularism does not separate religion and state. The Indian Constitution has allowed extensive interference of the state in religious affairs. India does partially separate religion and state.
Western model of secularism entails complete separation of state from religion. There is no involvement of state in religious activities or institutions.. It is very different from Indian model in terms of exclusivity of religion and state.
In Indian secularism the state adopts a strategy of intervening if it feels that the practices are violating the fundamental rights but also through non intervening if they feel that it is sentimental
In western secularism.i.e american secularism there is strict desperation between the state and the religion.......
