You are confusing things, apples and oranges. Pollenization is simply the transfer of pollen from one plant to another. Fertilization is the joining of the male part with the female part to produce offspring. The act of transferring pollen is done by insects and the wind. Fertilization is what happens AFTER the transfer which results in offspring, fruit.

If no suitable agent of pollination is present to carry pollen from one plant to another, a plant can pollinate itself in a process called self-pollination. In this case, male gametes are transferred from the anther to the stigma of the same flower or to the stigma of another flower of the same plant.
