Ribbon this interface made by Microsoft and was introduced with Microsoft Office package 2007.  

Its part of "Microsoft Office Fluent" interface and combines menu bar and toolbar into single floating pane.  

Ribbon is located at top of screen in Office applications as Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.

Term group normally refers to grouping of users.  

In principle users belong to none, one or many groups.

Primary purpose of user groups is simplifying access control to computer systems.
