Summer Monsoon

  1. In summer,land get heated more than sea.
  2. The heating of land develops a centre of low pressure on the land.
  3. On the sea air is compratively cool then of land so winds moves from land to sea.
  4. In the months of May,June,July the plains of Indian sub-continent are heated by the sun rays.The intense heat devlop low pressure.
  5. So the cold winds with high pressure from Indian Ocean moves to Northward and north-westward into Asia.

Winter Monsoon

  1. During winter season,the condition are just reverse those of summer.
  2. High pressure develops over a big landmass streching from Central Asia upto north-west Indian plains.
  3. Low pressure is devloped in Indian Ocean and the wind blow from land to sea,they bring cold dry weather,they are incapable of producing rain.
  4. When these winds blow over sea and pass over the lands and bring some rainfall
  5. The winter monsoon winds blow north-east so the monsoon is known as the 'North-East Winter Monsoon.
