Hi there!
HAPPY DUSHERRA

In test cross, a dominant phenotype is crossed with the homologous recessive genotype in order to discriminate betweenhomologous dominant and heterozygous genotypes. In backcross, the F1 is crossed with one of the parents or genetically identical individual to the parent.

Test Cross:-

#cross between an individual of unknown genotype but dominant phenotype which is homozygous for recessive character

#there are 2 possibilities of such a cross:a) if all the progeny exhibit dominant phenotype, unknown genotype is homozygous

b) if half of progeny exhibit dominant trait, half the recessive trait, unknown genotype is heterozygous.

Back Cross:-

#genetic cross between a hybrid organism(F1) and one of the two parents

#there are 2 possibilities of such a cross:a) if there is a cross between F1 hybrid and homozygous dominant parent, progeny will have dominant trait.

b) if there is a cross between F1 hybrid and recessive parent, 50% of offspring will show dominant trait and 50% recessive trait.
